Coming Back to the Heart of Worship
Tonight was such a great night. Dani, our hall Discipleship Coordinator, planned a prayer and praise for us girls on the hall. It is so nice having a hall discipleship coordinator. I know she is praying for the hall and is encouraging me to pray for it as well. So tonight we met and sang a few songs. Among the songs we sang was, “I’m coming back to the heart of worship.” The chorus went like this,
“I’m coming back to the heart of worship
And it’s all about You
All about You, Jesus
I’m sorry Lord for the thing I’ve made it
When it’s all about You
It’s all about You Jesus”
I remember singing this song growing up but tonight as I song it I finally got what it was saying. I had always sang this song thinking that the word worship in it was talking about the worship I was doing at that very moment. I sang the song trying to focus myself on my singing and praising so that I might be coming back “to the heart of worship.” But the word worship entails so much more. It is not merely the singing I do while I’m at church or singing with hall mates, it is the definition of how I am to live every minute of every day. The real challenge this song gives is to make my life (worship) not about me but all about Jesus.
I go into a new semester so often with my lists and calanders but that’s not what it’s about. Sure they are great methods to keep me sane, but those lists should never get in the way of what God wants for me or from me. To worship Christ I must completely die to the dayly plans I have for myself. I must turn everything back to Christ!
After our singing we had a time of prayer and each of us prayed for our hall mate next to us. What an amazing fellowship of sisterhood I have! Tonight was a great way to start off my semester.
